Adults and Children 12 Years and Older:Take this medication as it directed by your doctor.
Treatment beyond 2 consecutive weeks is not recommended, and the total dosage should not exceed 50 g per week.
Do not use the medication in larger amounts or for longer than recommended. Topical steroid medicine can be absorbed through the skin, which may cause steroid side effects throughout the body.
- Wash your hands before and after using Clobevate, unless you are using the medication to treat your hands.
- Apply a thin layer of Clobevate to the affected areas twice daily and rub in gently and completely.
- Clobevate should not be used with any dressings.
- Wash your hands after treatment.
Overdosage
Topically applied Clobevate can be absorbed in sufficient amounts to produce systemic effects.Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine.
An overdose of clobevate is not expected to produce life threatening symptoms. However, long-term use of high steroid doses can lead to symptoms such as thinning skin, easy bruising, changes in the shape or location of body fat (especially in your face, neck, back, and waist), increased acne or facial hair, menstrual problems, impotence, or loss of interest in sex.
What to avoid when taking Clobevate
Clobevate topical should not be used to treat any skin condition your doctor has not prescribed it for. Avoid using clobevate topical to treat skin on your face, underarms, or groin area without your doctor's advice. Avoid getting this medication in your eyes. If contact does occur, rinse with water. Do not use clobevate topical on broken or infected skin. Also avoid using this medication in open wounds.Side effects of Clobevate:
While taking Clobevate, you may suffer some mild side effects. This is not a complete list of side effects. Tell your doctor about any unusual or bothersome side effect.- Mild skin rash, itching, burning or redness
- Dry or cracking skin
- Thinning or softening of skin
- Skin rash or mild irritation around your mouth
- Swollen hair follicles
- Spider veins
- Treated skin changes colour
- Pimples, blisters or crusting of treated skin
- Stretch marks
Below are very uncommon side effects which people generally do not experience
Get emergency medical help if these signs of allergic reactions occur:
hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Stop taking Clobevate straight away and contact your doctor if you have severe irritation of any treated skin, such as:
- Blurred vision, seeing halos around lights
- Mood changes
- Sleep problems (insomnia)
- Weight gain, puffiness in your face
- Muscle weakness, feeling tired
Not recommended for people who
Do not use this medication if you are allergic to Clobetasol.Before taking Clobevate, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any form of drugs or if you have:
- Any type of skin infection
- Diabetes (Clobevate, when absorbed through the skin may increase the glucose (sugar) levels in your blood or urine)
This medication may be harmful to an unborn baby. If you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant or are breast feeding, talk to your doctor before taking Clobevate. Do not give this medication to a child as steroid absorption can cause unwanted side effects, or delay of growth with long-term use.
